Down but not Out – Impact of Abolishing the UK “Non-Dom” Tax Regime on Wealthy Americans

Tuesday, October 7, 2025, 11:45 AM until 1:15 PM

The speakers will provide an update on reforms to the UK’s tax system for Non-Domiciled individuals, initiated in April 2025. They will reflect on the overall effectiveness of this UK replacement regime. The session will also consider the current status of the UK as a destination for Americans, setting out the circumstances in which it remains a good/viable option, and will run through some of the frequent tax and other issues that arise. The session will also look forward to another UK fiscal event transpiring in November 2025, and what further changes might be expected. There will also be a discussion of what the outlook for the UK is generally in a world of increasing uncertainty.

The session will cover:

  • Abolition of the Non-Dom regime
  • Replacement Foreign Income and Gains (FIG) regime
  • Inheritance tax and trust tax issues for Americans with UK connections
  • Opportunities and challenges for US/UK clients
  • Outlook for the UK going forward
